“From Fleece to Felt Rug” Craft Workshop

A project to revive the ancient craft of felting, which essentially ceased as a trade in the region around the 1950s. Delivered jointly by the Vidin Fund „Chitalishta” and the Regional History Museum – Vidin.

Main activities

• Craft workshop in the museum's „Crossed Barracks" exhibition
• Training for 15 children and youth aged 11–15 over 7 months
• Expected visits from another ~300 children and youth
• Field research documenting previously unknown felting examples
• Digital „Catalogue of Felt Items from the Vidin Region"
• Two exhibitions — museum felt rugs and student creations

Goal

To preserve this ancient non-woven textile technology and pass on knowledge to the younger generation in the Vidin region.
